Storyboard Text

  • Hey dad, what was the first Thanksgiving like? Did they eat turkey like we do?
  • The wampanoag and pilgrims eventually celebrate the military alliance with harvest. There were about 90 indians and 50 pilgrims attending, and they were all men.
  • Let's sit down and talk about it. To start, one dish they ate was sobaheg, a stew made with meat and vegetables. Unfortunately turkey was not on the menu.
  • Oh boy...here we go

  • unfortunately, this treaty would not do much to protect the indians from what was to come
  • pilgrims and wampanoag feast over their harvest in the cleared out land that was once a villiage
  • Wow! They didn't tell me that at school. But why were indians killed if we made a treaty?
  • Well, later on when the puritans and other settlers came in, they saw the land as a free for all. Let's just say they were not afraid to use their weapons.
  • Now that you've had your history lesson, let's get to making that pie!
  • several hours later...
