The military strategies used by the Union help aid them in winning the Civil War. Their tactics were nicknamed the "Anaconda Plan", and was written by Winfield Scott. The main idea was to create a blockade so the South couldn't reach any more supplies, as well as isolate multiple sections of the South
The north had a huge advantage when it came to population size. This side housed over 22 million people, which made them able to raise an army as well as support war efforts.
Another thing that aided the North was their use of industrialization. Over ninety percent of the nation's factories were housed here, which means that they were able to mass produce items such as clothing an weapontry.
