Causes of the Cold War Riley Dohner
The Cold War was the war that was primarily between the Unites States and the USSR after World War Two. It lasted around 45 years and there were many causes of this war.
EQ: What is the Cold War?
One of the main causes of the cold war was because the United States, as a democratic country, did not like the idea of communism. This resulted in the fear of a communist attack on the United States or The Red Scare.
It was not just the Unites States that were afraid of an attack, the USSR were also afraid of an American attack. The USSR had the fear the the Americans would use an atomic bomb on them like they had at the end of World War Two.
Another one of the main causes of the Cold War was that the USSR and the Unites States disagreed on how Berlin and Europe should be rebuilt after World War Two. The USA wanted to install the Marshall Plan in fear of Communism spreading and the USSR did not like that.
In the end, there were many causes of the Cold War. Even though the United States and the Soviet Union never had any direct military campaign, billions of dollars and millions of people were lost in the fight.
