  • #1PALEO PERIOD
  • The earliest known culture lasted until about 10000 years ago. Paleo people are nomadic meaning they follow large groups of animals for hunting.
  • #2 ARCHAIC PERIOD
  • In this period there were 3 distinct time spans. The first period is the early period, from about 8000 B.C. The second period lasted through 5000 B.C. The third tab lasted from about 4000 B.C. to 1000 B.C.
  • #3 WOODLAND PERIOD
  • The Woodland culture lasted from about 1000 B.C. to 1000 A.D. Most of the families began to form tribes together, which is when families who share common ancestry, name, and way of living.
  • This Period is considered the highest prehistoric civilization in Georgia. It lasted from about 700 A.D. to 1600 A.D.
  • #4 MISSISSIPPIAN PERIOD
  • Hernando Desoto
  • I left Havana, Cuba in 1539 with a large group of men to find gold as we crossed over the states.
  • When Hernando De Soto came to Georgia, thousands of Native Americans died from diseases.
