Sarah grabbed her doll's foot and tried to pull it away from Joe. Joe only laughed. "Haha!" he taunted. Determined, Sarah pulled as hard as she could. Riiiiiiip!
The doll fell from their hands. Sarah fell down beside it, crying. "Ann! Ann!" she cried. Everyone around her stared. They were shocked.
Joe just stared at Sarah while she stared back at him. Sarah was still crying! Just then, their teacher walked on over. She asked them, "What's going on?"
Sarah burst out, "Joe broke my doll, Ann!" Joe gasped. "I didn't mean to! I'm sorry!" cried Joe. "You did too!" Sarah responded. Miss Park looked at them and gently said, "Proverbs 17:17."
Miss Park smiled at the confusion written across Joe and Sarah's faces. "A friend loves at all times. Proverbs 17:17," Miss Park explained. Joe turned to Sarah and said tearfully, "I'm sorry. Can we be friends?" Sarah looked at him and told him, "Yes, I forgive you." However, she was still sad about her doll even though she forgave him.
Later that afternoon, Sarah told her parents what happened to her doll. "Ann was my only friend!" cried Sarah. "Honey, what about Joe?" asked Sarah's mom. Sarah shrugged. Sarah's dad smiled down at her and said, "Proverbs 17:17."
