Sweet sassy molassy, my boys! we're gonna have to start these meetings with a prayer because of the temper tantrums on either side!
Sometime Later on...
We, the delegates of Virginia, propose that the government is designed to have a strong bicameral legislature. A strong executive and a national judiciary will be chosen by it. Its representation will be based on population.
Hold the phone fellas! What are the small states? Chopped Liver! How can the states with smaller populations be heard if we have so many fewer representatives?
This is bupkis! We like it our way better!
We, the delegates of New Jersey, propose a government with a unicameral legislature. It will have equal representation for all states. The legislature will also choose multiple weak executives and a weak national judiciary. How do ya like them apples?!
So the convention went on in a deadlock over which method of representation would be adopted...
That sounds fine.
We, the delegates of Connecticut, propose a compromise. Under this plan the government will have a two part legislature. One of the houses will be the House of Representatives, and the representation in this house will be based on population. The other house will be the Senate, and each state will have two representatives in it.
We can live with that.
And it was in this way that the convention's greatest dispute was resolved.
Great work today men.
