Patient safety is a top priority. What can we do to decrease patient falls and increase patient safety?
I have heard about the telesitting program! This is a standing camera that is placed in a patient room while a sitter watches them from another room!
I have heard of that! This allows one person to watch up to 8 patients at one time. They are educated to watch for patients getting out of bed, pulling at IV lines, NG's, or foleys.
The camera is equip with night vision, a microphone for the telesitter to speak to the patient, and alarms to notify staff if a patient is getting out of bed.
The telesitter program also decreases staffing strain by preventing 1:1 monitoring.
The telesitting program creates a positive impact on the organization by decreasing staffing stress, preventing 1:1 monitoring, and most importantly increases patient safety!
