Storyboard Text

  • After Victory at Troy, Odysseus and men raid the island of Cicones. However, the Cicones attack and kill many of Odysseus' men. They then travel to the island of Lotus Eaters where they eat the lotus fruit which makes them lose all inhibitions except to eat more fruit.
  • Odysseus and his men then go to the island of the cyclopes. The cyclopes, Polyphemus (Poseidon's son) traps them in his cave. Odysseus ends up blinding him in order to escape. This enrages Poseidon, who curses Odysseus' journey home.
  • The God Aeolus gave Odysseus a bag of winds to return home. However, his men open it without permission, and it blows them to the island of Laestrygonians, where many of Odysseus' men are eaten by the king and queen.
  • Odysseus and his men encounter many other obstacles including: Circe who turns his men into pigs, the Underworld where he asks Teiresias how to get home, the sirens where he must be tied down, and Scylla who eats six of his men
  • Odysseus then ends up at Ogygia, where the goddess Calypso falls in love with him. They have a 7 year affair until Hermes convinces her to let Odysseus go. He then travel to the island of the Phoenicians, where he relays his journey, and they help him get home to Ithaca.
  • Odysseus makes it home to Ithaca! With his son Telemachus, he kills all his wife's suiters. He then visits his father and reunites with his wife Penelope.
