The Battle of Saratoga

General Burgoyne sent a force to the American supply base in Bennington, Vermont. A local milita group called the Green Mountain boys defeated them and drove them to Saratoga, New York.
There in Saratoga, New York Burgoyne was in serious trouble and all alone. Some Patriots stopped St. Leger at Fort Stanwix.
American troops were under the command of General Horatio Gates, he blocked and surrounded Burgoyne's troops. Burgoyne then made a desperate attack on October 7. On October 17, 17777 Burgoyne surrendered and the British's plan had failed. The Continental Army won a major victory, changing the course of the war.
