  • Lily Owens is a teenage girl, living in South Carolina, in the summer of 1964. Her father is still grieving over the lose of Lily's mother and the only person she truly has is Rosealeen. 
  • Climax
  • Lily and Rosealeen get into some trouble with white men, who do not approve of Rosealeen's color and end up in jail. 
  • Falling Action
  • Lily was able to get out of jail, but Rosealeen was not. Lily had told Rosealeen she would be back to get her out somehow. 
  • Resolution
  • As much as Lily was upset that Rosealeen had still been in jail , she new she was going to come up with a plan to get Rosealeen out of there. 
  • Lily had make it back home and up to her room and decided it was time to get away from T.Ray and take off and start a new life with Rosealeen. T.Ray had demanded her to stay in her room until he had make his way back with her punishment. 
  • Lily had quickly wrote a letter saying she could not stay and deal with T.Ray anymore. She had packed up her stuff and laid the note at her bedside. She made sure the coast was clear and left as T.Ray had yelled for her name. She did not hesitate to look back.
