  • Exposition
  • Jip By: Katie Reed
  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • Some main characters in Jip are Jip, Put, Sheldon Mr. & Mrs. Lyman, the Wilkens family, Luke Stevenson, Teacher, The Bracket boys, slave catcher, and members of the poor farm. The setting of the story is on a poor farm in Vermont and before the Cilvil War (mid 1800's).
  • Climax
  • The main conflict that happens is the stranger coming to the farm. So then that leads to the poor farm that Jip lives on they brought a guy named Put to start work on the farm. Witch then he had a few spells. Another conflict is that Sheldon died.
  • Falling Actions
  • The biggest rising action was when Jip went with Mr. Lyman to sell a cow at the market. That then lead to another rising action when Jip was in the truck and the stranger came up and then talked to Jip. That then lead to the stranger coming to the poor farm.
  • Resolusion
  • The climax of ''Jip'' is when Jip and Put leave the poor farm. The reason that they leave the poor farm is because of the stranger. The stranger wanted to keep on talking to Jip, and going over to the farm. The reason the stranger kept on coming was because he knew that Jip's mother was a slave so he was a slave as well.
  • A few falling actions that had appeared was that Put was in no shape for the escape. Jip had to walk very slowly so that way Put could keep up. Jip was also not prepared he had no supplies or basic necessities to keep him and Put alive. So then after they went to the Stevenson's Jip needed to go find his teacher since she would know what to do. Yet late at night he went off to go find Lucy. Then later at night him and Put went to see the teacher.
  • The resolution is when Jip goes to North. The reason that Put didn't go was because he got shot by the slave catchers. Then the catcher had to take Jip. Then the teacher said that he had to prove that Jip was his property. After all of this the teacher told him to go North since that was what Put would have wanted. So Jip went to the North and was fighting to free slaves. Since they deserved a second chance like Jip.
