This quote is Whitney asking Rainsford if he's scared about the place their going called ship-trap island. He ask this because in the story they say that all the people on yacht and the captain was also.
This quote is when Rainsford falls off the yacht and he has a hard time time to get above water and then he gets hit in the face with a bunch a water from the yacht. After that the yacht keeps moving and then he's lost in the middle of the ocean.
In this quote it explains the that the jungles weeds and trees are very over grown and it's going to be really hard for him to get through it.
