  • Look we need to lower the tariff.

  • They are just being biased.
  • The Northerners side
  • Everything is cheaper!
  • MOOOOONEY
  • In 1812, Americans began to disagree about the Tariff- a fee paid by merchants.
  • The attempt of nullification
  • uh calm down.
  • YOU TRAITOR!!
  • Since Southerners had little industry and they felt like the tariffs were biased.
  • The shock of southerners
  • JEFFERSON HOW COULD YOU?!
  • THIS IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!
  • Sine the Northerners had plenty of industry, it made their manufactured goods became cheaper.
  • The South's nullification act
  • WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN,JEFFERSON!
  • YOUR THREATS WILL NOT KNOCK US DOWN!!
  • Clay tried to reason with Jackson, but Jackson was only enraged that his vice president would "betray" him.
  • Jackson supported States rights, so when he did not support the nullification it really stunned the south.
  • HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO YOUR OWN PEOPLE!!
  • The south passed a resolution claiming nullification of the tariff, Jackson threatened to send U.S. troops into South Carolina to enforce federal laws.
