  • The nurse comes into Juliet's room, carrying dreadful news.

  • The nurse tells Juliet the news. Tybalt was killed by Romeo and now Romeo is seemingly dead due to his banishment.

  • What storm is this that blows so contrary? Is Romeo slaughtered and is Tybalt dead? My dearest cousin, and my dearer ? Then, dreadful trumpet, sound the general doom, For who is living if those two are gone? (3.2.70-74)
  • Juliet breaks down at the news, saying that this torture should be roared in dismal hell. She claims that her heart is now broken.
  • The Nurse claims that she witnessed it all, seeing Tybalt go as pale as ashes. She also goes on about how Tybalt was a good man.
  • Juliet claims that life will not continue without her cousin and her lover; she still believes that Romeo is actually dead and not just banished.
