  • Abraham Lives amongst Polytheists
  • Abraham believes in Monotheism
  • Abraham made a covenant with God
  • Abraham lived in Ur(modern Iraq) with his wife Sarai in a time when most people in the region were polytheists(belief in more than one God).
  • Abraham Gets Isaac
  • However, Abraham believes in monotheism(belief in one God). He began develpoing a strong relationship with God although his wife didn't believed in monotheism, as he never seen this God.
  • Abraham is instructed to sacrifice Isaac
  • As a result of his faith, God made a coventant with him. God told Abraham to travel to Canaan(modern Israel) in exchange for a son. He doubted God at first because he sand his wife Sarah were already very old and it was unlikely that she would bear any children.
  • Isaac is saved and abraham learns a lesson
  • As a reward for having faith in God, Abraham's is rewarded a son and calls him the name God gave to his son - Isaac. Sarah also now has complete faith in God as she has been rewarded miraculously with Isaac
  • As time passed and Isaac grew God wanted to test his faith in Abraham and told him to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham now doubted his trust in God as he was changing the covenant that he meade with him. So he took Isaac up the Mountain.
  • Just as Abraham was about to scarifice Isaac God called out to him and stopped him. Gos told him that Abraham has proven his devotion for him and that it was about his faith in God over his love for Isaac. So Isaac continued to grow. His descendants grew into people who also believed in monotheism and were known as Jews.
