Farms of the Great Depression

As you can see, this is my family farm after the Great Depression. I came and visited today for the first time since we left 60 years ago. How did it get like this? It all started like this...
Back in the beginning of the 20th century, yield was good. I used to run through the lush, green fields.
We expanded the farm greatly to meet the demands for feeding the army in WWI.
But we expanded too greatly... We went into debt trying to mechanize our operations.
The rains went away and the farms dried up. Our crops withered away.
And then it was the Dust Bowl. We decided to move out West to try to find work.
