Griflet asked King Arthur to make him a knight. Merlin convinced Arthur of what a great man Griflet was and so, King Arthur knighted Griflet.
Arthur told Griflet that if he could defeat the knight at the fountain than Griflet should come back to him "without making anymore debate."
Griflet and the knight at the fountain had a joust. Griflet had been defeated by the knight.
The knight and King Arthur had a joust of their own. Just before Arthur was defeated by the knight, Merlin came in to break up the fight.
With the knight asleep due to a sleeping spell from Merlin, Arthur and Merlin set out to find the Lady of the Lake to get Arthur a new sword to make him stronger.
The two found themselves at the lake, the lady arose from the lake with the sword and asked the lady for the sword. She gave him the sword.
