One way I've seen the constructivist approach used is through DOLs. Students work together to correct sentences on the whiteboard.
For a 12th grade English class, one way to use the Constructivist Approach is by having the students to create a modern adaptation of a Shakespeare play and relating it to a modern event. The students can perform for each other and have a discussion afterwards.
"Constructivist theories of learning focus on how people make meaning, both of their own and in an interaction with others." (Woolfolk 421).
There are two central ideas of constructivist theory: Learners are active in constructing their own knowledge and social interactions are important in knowledge construction process (421).

The Constructivist Approach is beneficial for all content areas. Learners get to test knowledge against experience and other people's understanding (425). Learning will be enhanced by hearing different perspectives. The approach also has students take ownership of their own construction of knowledge. This helps students become self-motivated and makes the tasks more meaningful. Since the tasks are more authentic, they can use what they learn outside of academia.
