  • Romeo and Juliet Act 3
  • Act 3 Scene 1
  • Hold, Tybalt! Good Mercutio!
  • Act 3 Scene 2
  • Shame come to Romeo!
  • By Jason Kuehnle
  • Act 3 Scene 3
  • There is no world without Verona walls, but purgatory, torture, hell itself.
  • A fight starts in the streets of Verona between Mercutio and Tybalt. Romeo tries to stop the fight, but Mercutio is killed by Tybalt. Romeo then kills Tybalt and flees, now banished from Verona.
  • Act 3 Scene 4
  • The nurse comes to tell Juliet all about the events that occurred back in Scene 1. Juliet learns that her cousin has been killed and that her husband is banished. She is upset by this, but the Nurse promises to make it up to her by bringing Romeo to her house that night.
  • Act 3 Scene 5
  • It was the nightingale, and not the lark, that pierced the fearful hollow of thine ear.
  • The nurse comes to Friar Laurence's house, where Romeo is hiding. They try to help out Romeo, who's very upset, and try to stop him from killing himself. The nurse tells Romeo to go to Juliet's house for one last night together, and promises to end Romeo's banishment.
  • Paris, still wanting to marry Juliet, talks to Lord Capulet about it. Wanting to cheer up Juliet, Lord Capulet agrees, saying the marriage can happen next week.
  • She shall be married to this noble earl.
  • After Romeo leaves after their night together, Lord Capulet comes in to Juliet's room to inform her that he must marry Paris in two days. She refuses, but Capulet says that if she doesn't, she will be thrown out into the streets. No one, not even the nurse, is on her side anymore, so Juliet goes to the only person left, Friar Laurence.
