The story of the nymph Echo
Echo was a magical wood nymph. She had the most beautiful voice, and she loved to sing and talk to people, and always had the last word.
One day, when Zeus was seeking refuge in the woods to hide from his wife, Hera, he spotted Echo. Every time Hera tried to catch Zeus, Echo would sidetrack her with chatter & gossip.
Once Hera found out that Zeus had gone into those woods to flirt with the Nymphs that lived there, she punished Echo by making her only able to repeat what others had said, and never be able to speak first.
One day Echo met Narcissus, and fell in love. She would follow him, and try to speak to him, but because of Hera's curse, she was only able to repeat what he said. Narcissus, taking her speaking as a mockery, grew angry, and left her.
One day, the god, Pan spotted Echo and fell in love. But due to her grief, she wouldn't have him. In anger, Pan made his shephards tear her to pieces.
Gaia, the earth mother, who could not reverse what had happened to Echo, let her keep her voices fragments, and when a piece of her is near, you may hear her voice "Echoeing"
