  • Rainsford wants to leave but, the general doesn't let him.
  • "No general I will not hunt"(Connell 73).
  • " Not many men know how to make a Malay man-catcher"(Connell 77). "You've done well Rainsford,"the voice of the general called."Your Burmese tiger pit has claimed one of my best dogs"(Connell 78). He caught hold of a springy young sapling, and to it he fastened his hunting knife, with the blade pointing down the trail;with a bit of wild grapevine he tied back the sapling(Connell 79).
  • Rising Action
  • "Nerve, nerve, nerve!" He panted as he dashed along. Ever nearer drew the hounds . Rainsford forced himself onto a gap (Connell 80).

  • Rainford comes to the ledge, he can either turn and fight, or he could jump off the ledge and swim.
