  • Odysseus and Company™ in: The Cyclops
  • Odysseus and Company™ arrive on the coastline of the Cyclopes.
  • Odysseus takes 12 of his best men along with him to explore one of the cyclopes' cave.
  • They enter the cave.
  • "Why not take these cheeses, (...) throw open all the pens, and make a run for it?" [166-168]
  • The cyclops, Polyphemus, returns. He sees Odysseus and his men.
  • "Strangers, who are you? And where from?" [196]
  • "We are from Troy, Acheaens, blown off course by shifting gales on the Great Sea. (...) Here we stand, beholden for your help, or any gifts you give- as custom is to honor strangers." [204-213]
  • "Great sir, have a care for the gods' courtesy; Zeus will avenge the unoffending guest." [214-216]
  • To show his disdain for Odysseus, he swiped up two of his men and ate them.
