Storyboard Text

  • Muhammad was an orphan living with his uncle in Mecca. He didn't really like the town.
  • Everyone was greedy and selfish and didn't care about the poor. They believed in many gods and evil spirits. Muhammad wanted to change that.
  • So, he went to a cave and prayed. As he prayed, an angel Gabriel appeared and told him to read the note in their hand. Muhammad didn't know how to read, so, the angel read it to him.
  • Muhammad remembered every word and told the town.  He said, "Allah is the one true God, and giving yourself to him is the only way to worship him. He himself the only prophet of God." He didn't earn too many followers, though.
  • Him and his followers decided to get away from Mecca by going to a place called Medina. This was known as the Hijrah. At that time, he had 10,000 followers.
  • In 632, Muhammad got ill and died.  At the time, most people in Arabian Peninsula were Muslims. His teaching were collected and put in a book called the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam.
