Storyboard Text

  • Ordinary World
  • Call to Adventure
  • Please help us battle at Troy.
  • Refusal
  • King Odysseus of Ithica was gifted a son, Telemachus. Him and his wife Penelope are very happy.
  • Mentor/Helper/Assistance
  • On this happy day, Odysseus is asked to help fight in the battle of Troy.
  • Cross the Threshold/Depature
  • We did it. I did it!
  • Odysseus doesn't want to leave his wife and his new born son. He knew the trip to Troy was very far and didn't want to be gone that long.
  • Test/Allies/Enemies/Trials
  • Not until I get what I want.
  • Although Odysseus didn't want to go fight at Troy, the gods and goddess knew he needed to go. So, Athena, goddess of wisdom, craft, and war, came to Odysseus as a mentor to help him along the way to and back from Troy.
  • Even though Odysseus had been gone for several years by now, his actual adventure didn't start until he left Troy. Odysseus was very full of himself, he said he didn't need help from anyone. This really upset-ted the gods and goddesses.
  • On his way, because he was so full of himself, the gods and goddesses decided to put Odysseus through some tests so he would under stand that he is nothing without them. One trial was to see if he would stay loyal to his wife. The beautiful Circe, another goddess took Odysseus' men and the only way he could get them back was to sleep with her, so he did. But he did it with the intent of getting his men back so he could get back to his wife and he made that very clear to Circe.
  • Turn my men back!
