  • Mexico welcomes large numbers of Anglo- Americans immigrants
  • Welcome to Mexico!!
  • 1835 New Dictator of Mexico
  • I am now the New Dictator!!
  • OH wow!
  • Battle of Gonzales
  • Fire The Cannon!!
  • RUN!!
  • They welcomed them in hopes they would become loyal citizens and keep territory from falling into the hands of the United States.  The immigrants didn't really adjust.  They didn't because they continued to speak English, form their own schools, and had closer trading ties to the United States than to Mexico.
  • Battle of The Alamo
  • This happened when the president of Mexico overthrew constitution and made himself Dictator.  The new Dictator was the president, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna.  He ordered that the Mexican Military begin disarming the Texans whenever possible.
  • Battle of San Jacinto
  • Mexican soldiers fired on the Texans but only 1 Texan man was wounded from his horse. The Texans fired at the Mexicans and the Texans wounded 1 Mexican soldier.  Then the mexicans retreated till fog lifted and when it did the Texans were on open feild with the canon.  A guy told them to "come and get it". Then they shot the canon and scared away the Mexican soldiers.  The significance about this battle was that the canon only made noise and it did not shoot anything.

  • Mexicans captured San Antonio.  Chief argued that San Antonio should be abandoned.  They prepared to defend the fort.  The significance of this battle was that the Mexicans suffered from many causalities in the war.

  • Houston distributed his troops in battle array, bracketing the line with the "twin sisters Canon.  the significance about this battle was that it lasted only about 20 minutes long.
