  • Henry Clay
  • Andrew Jackson was born in a log cabin in 1767. He was the 7th president. He was also a hero of the war of 1812. He was known as a hero to the common man.
  • Outcome of Election of 1824
  • President James Monroe nominated him as Military Secretary in 1817. Calhoun supported the tariff of abominations.
  • Outcome of Election of 1824
  • Clay was the speaker of the house. He swayed the votes in the election to make Adams win so he could one day become president.
  • Outcome of Election of 1824
  • Jackson lost the vote conducted by the House of Representatives. Jackson got favoritism because of the corrupt bargain and his defeat.
  • Clay formed an alliance with Adams to make Adams win and Clay to become secretary of state. By giving Clay the position of Secretary of State the corrupt bargain was secured.
  • Clay swayed the votes so that Adams could win the election. Afterwards Adams appointed Clay his secretary of state, and left Jackson out of the picture.
