Today in science we are learning about like rocks or something like that, and I have to do a project on Galena.
First of all Galena is a mineral NOT a rock, and I know all about that mineral.
Lets go inside and I will tell you everything you need to know!!
I need to know everything about Galena, what do ya got??!
Galena's chemical composition is Pbs. The group the mineral belongs to is Sulfide. Its color streak is lead gray to black and a streak is the color of the mineral's powder. Galena's hardness is 2.5 and its cleavage is perfect, cublic, and 3 directions. Galena is also metallic.
I know I know, but I am not done yet! Some minerals that are harder than Galena are Quartz and diamonds, and some minerals that are softer than Galena is talc.
This is so much OMG!
Is she done yet??!!!
Galena's color is fresh surfaces that are bright sivler in color with a bright metallic luster, tarnishes to a dull lead gray. It also is in everyday appliances like the stove, a can opener, a blender, a refrigerator, and many more things!!
That's everything I know, hope it helped!!
Sweet, thank you so much!!
