I wish I could step out of my comfort zone...
In stanza one, the speaker says the world is as big as you make it, and she closed herself off in a small place. What the author means by this is she is a very guarded person, so it is hard for her to step out of her comfort zone. In this picture, a girl is wishing she could try new things.
Maybe I should try out for it... It sounds like fun!
MUSICAL TRYOUTS TODAY
In stanza two, the speaker sees a "distant horizon" and wants to go explore it. The speaker sees something that would usually be out of her comfort zone, but has a burning desire to try it. In this picture, a girl sees something out of her comfort zone, but really wants to try it.
In the last stanza, the speaker is breaking free of the "barrier" around her. The speaker is now able to accomplish what she couldn't in the first stanza. In this picture, the girl has overcome her fears and is trying out for a musical.
