Storyboard Text

  • Basically some guy falls out of a plane
  • "There was a speck above the island, a figure dropping swiftly beneath a parachute, a figure that hung with dangling limbs" (Golding 95)
  • Sam and Eric think the parachuter was the beast and everyone gets all clenched
  • "Whats the matter?" (Golding 98)
  • " We saw-" (Golding 98)
  • "-the beast-" (Golding 98)
  • The parachuter falling from the the sky is an important moment because the boys end up thinking he's the beast. Sam and Eric would have never seen 'the beast' if they didn't run into the parachuter.
  • Sam and Eric telling Ralph about the beast is an important moment because after they Ralph finds out about the beast that's when they decide to go look for it. Also that's when everyone gets all freaked out because their all 'omg like theres actually a beast i literally cant right now'
  • Some of the boys try to go find the beast and Jack thinks he knows everything
  • "Do you- think?" (Golding 104)
  • "I've been all over. It must be here." (Golding 105)
  • The boys want to stay and make a fort and Ralph is being logical and is like obviously we can't stay here
  • "No! ... I'm chief...Are you all off your rockers?" (Golding 108)
  • "This would make a wizard fort." (Golding 108)
  • "Why can't we stay here for a bit?" (Golding 108)
  • "We can roll rocks-" (Golding 108)
  • Looking for the beast is an important part because they left Piggy alone with the littluns so something bad could happen to them. Also as they explore the island they discover new places they didn't know where there and end up wanting to make a fort.
  • The boys wanting to stay and build a fort is important because that shows that Ralph is trying to control them and they aren't listening to him. Also Jack comes up with the idea to like make a boulder thing which ends up killing one of the boys later in the book.
