  • After his father died, her mother prepared her to be a Queen if Victoria's uncle died and she ascended to the throne before she was officially of age.
  • On June 28, the 18-year-old Oueen Victoria was crowned as monarch of the United Kingdom and Ireland in London's Westminster Abbey.
  • In 1840, Queen Victoria married her cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the son of her mom's brother. The couple met when Victoria was just 16 from their uncle Leopold suggested they marry.
  • Over the course of 21-year marriage, Victoria and Albert raised 9 children together.
  • After several years of suffering from stomach ailments, Victoria's beloved Prince Albert died of typhoid fever in 1861 at the age of 42.
  • After prince Albert was passed away, the Queen was very depressed. After that, she decided to wear a black clothes for the rest of her life, to mourning for her husband.
