Odysseus and his men wen't on a journey, While the men were on their way the encountered an island. This island carried a deadly monster, but the men didn't know about this mystical creature. They found a cave where the cyclops has been living, the men run into the cyclops and they aren't able to leave. Odysseus knows that if he stays him and his guys will die so he kills the cyclops and flee's the island. Odysseus sets out to sea where the men start to hear singing. The singing was sirens, sirens are mermaids that are very evil.
The Cyclops and Sirens, the greeks did this because they didn't just wright about gods and goddesses. The Greeks wrote about the monsters to scare the people that would read these. Back then they didn't know if the monsters that they wrote about were real or not
