Storyboard Text

  • Hello. We are back in the time of the Boston Teaparty. The colonists are furious because the British put tax on the tea. They do not like having to pay for their tea.
  • The Boston Teaparty
  • This is a box of tea. The tea was actually in chests when it was on the ship.
  • As a result, the colonists slit open hundreds of chests of tea and dumped it into the Boston Harbor. The tea was worth more than 1 million dollars total. It was all dry tea and weighed in tons.
  • The British also put tax on other things such as, glass, and paint. They also blocked the Boston Harbor.
  • The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770. The colonists were taunting and throwing things at the British soldiers.
  • The colonists threw something and it hit Private Montgomery. He fell, which caused his gun to fire. The confused soldiers started to fire into the crowd of colonists.
  • Only 5 colonists died. 3 died right away and 2 more died later. How would you feel if there was a street fight that occurred here?
