I was just finishing up the latest case with my partner in tow. the case had been a recent rash of grave robbing, some doctor and his thief in the dark. Nothing we couldn't handle. They're in jail now.
After the case, we decided to take a short break. So, we went to the local fortune teller to see what she had to say about us. She said something about a surprise in our future, but to remain calm at all times for the next three days.
Soon after talking with the gypsy, we received a call. Something about a scream from the next door. We didn't have much else, and we were still working, so we decided to check it out.
As soon as we arrived on the scene, we were greeted by a young man. He was extremely polite and courteous and invited us right inside. We accepted, asking her if he had heard the scream. He reported he had, and it had been himself in a dream. He also mentioned the man living near her was gone on vacation.
We sat and chatted with the man for a time. As time passed, minute by minute, something seemed off about him. He grew terribly feverish, talking faster and faster. We figured it was just a quirk he had, and thought nothing of it. We would be proven very wrong very soon.
Suddenly, the man shattered. Not literally, mind you. Buthshe shouted "Villains!" very suddenly. After only a half second, she continued "dissemble no more! I admit the deed! --tear up the planks! here, here! --It is the beating of his hideous heart!" He screeched this, and fell into a fit. It was truly a thing of horror. After some time, we looked where he had pointed, and found, lo and behold, a heart.
