  • Climax
  • On a dark December midnight, nearly asleep he read by the fire and then heard a noise at his chamber door.
  • Falling Action
  • He heard a noise at his chamber door and apologized for napping while someone came knocking on his chamber door while the door was still closed. He opened the door wide open and nothing was there.
  • Resolution
  • He then hears a sound at his window and goes over to it and opens it. A raven flew in and sat above his chamber door. He asks the raven what his purpose is as to why he is there. To help him remember Lenore or to forget her. The only thing the bird replies with is " Nevermore".
  • Literary Element
  • He goes insane trying to get an answer to his questions out of the raven but all the Raven answers with is "Nevermore".
  • The Raven still sits there above his chamber door with his shadow lingering on the floor because of the lamp above him. Still all the Raven says "Nevermore".
  • One literary element would be personification. Every time the raven speaks because in real life a raven can't speak.
