Series of unfortunate events Ersatz Elevator
The Baudelaire orphans again are looking for new guardians. They find Mr. and Mrs. Squalor an live with them in a huge penthouse. Mrs.Squalor introduced an auctioneer named Gunther, who was actually Count Olaf. The orphans and Mr. Squalor left to eat and when they came back they couldn't go to the penthouse unless Gunther left but Mr. Squalor convinced the doorman to let them go up and when they got there, he was gone. The children worried if Count Olaf was still in the penthouse or not. Later Klaus found out that there was a fake elevator where there friends, the Quagmires, where hidden. they went to get supplies to get them out of there cage but when they came back they where gone. They realized that Count Olaf took the Quagmire orphans to the auction to auction them off. The orphans where in a box so you couldn't tell if they where in there or not, but they got Mr. Squalor to bid on it anyway. He bid one thousand dollars for..... Napkins? The box was full of fancy napkins instead of the Quagmire orphans. Mr. Poe told Mr. and Mrs. Squalor and they weren't suitable for taking care of the Baudelaire children so Mrs. Squalor offered to give the children to Gunther. They agreed and Gunther went to grab Violet but then he slipped on a napkin and you could see his ankle with his eye tattoo on it. Mr. Poe yelled, "its Count Olaf!"Then Count Olaf ran away with Mrs. Squalor and took the Quagmire Orphans. The Baudelaire orphans were devastated that Count Olaf took their friends for the second time.
My recommendation is that this book might not be for everyone because it is a very sad book. This book is also hard to understand if you have not read the books before this one, but otherwise, i recommend this book.
