  • Hello! Today we will be talking about the American Revolution and the causes leading up to it.
  • FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR
  • This was a war that occurred between the French and the British, also known as the Seven Years War. The war was the effect of arguments about land. The British gained more territory as a result of them winning this war.
  • PROCLAMATION OF 1763
  • The proclamation of 1763 declared that the new lands of the Appalachian Mountains would remain the property of the crown's Native American allies. It forced the colonists living there to pack up and return east.
  • THE STAMP ACT AND THE INTOLERABLE ACTS
  • To pay for the French and Indian War the British created the Stamp Act. It placed taxes on legal documents, newspapers, and even playing cards. This act caused the colonists to rebel the taxes and ignore them. This caused the British to create the Intolerable Acts. It included four laws but one of them remained known. The Quartering Act was one and allowed the colonists to house British soldiers.
  • DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
  • This was a document declaring independence from the British by the colonists. The Georgia representatives that signed the declaration of independence were Button Gwinnet, Lyman Hall, and George Walton.
