There is so much I don't know! You are so much bigger than me! How big will i get?
Well I am only 18 feet and 750 lbs, but the biggest hammerhead I know, Tom, is 20 ft and 1000lbs!
That’s crazy, I hope I get that big! I had a friend who was a ray in the aquarium! He was 10 feet long!
Well rays and skates are some of our closest relatives. We are all in the class Elasmobranchii, which means we have highly developed senses and are made of cartilage.
Cartilage is pretty cool. Isn’t that what our fins are made of?
Yes it is. Unfortunately, because our fins are so large, lots of people like to catch us for shark fin soup. And our mating patterns are really easy to follow, so we get ambushed doing that a lot by shark fishers.
That is so scary! I do not want to get caught!
