  • STAGE ONE
  • STAGE TWO
  • STAGE THREE
  • 36 boys and girls aged between 3 and 5 took part in a experiment to test the transmission of aggression through imitation. they were divided into groups of 6 the remaining children were a control group the children were brough to the experimental room individually .
  • STAGE FOUR
  • the children were brought to the experiment individually , and were invited to play a game; a number of toys were presented in the room. an adult model then entered the room and assembled the toys, In the non-aggressive conditions the model continued to assemble to the toys in a quiet manor. ignoring the Bobo doll.
  • STAGE FIVE
  • However in the aggressive condition after a minute the model began started acting aggressively to the Bobo doll. This behaviour wouldn't have been expected from the children unless they had taken influence from the model
  • STAGE SIX
  • Both female and male models were used. if the children performed similar acts of aggression it would prove the theory of imitation. All the children were subject to mild aggression where they were told to play with attractive toys and then were told not to 2 minutes after.
  • They were then taken to a further room where there were a number of aggressive toys such as mallets and some non-aggressive toys such as crayons. the children spent 20 minutes in this room , observed by a one way mirror.
  • An experimenter rated the different levels of aggressive and non aggressive behaviour shown by the children. the experimenter had no knowledge as to which group the children had been previously assigned to. CONCLUSION; observation of behaviour can lead to imitative behaviour
