  • I don't like anything about that weirdo.
  • Near the Salinas River, two migrant workers in the great depression travel to find work on a ranch after leaving their job because Lennie mistakenly grabs a woman by the dress.
  • Climax
  • Lennie and George are best friends. Lennie is mentally disabled and because of his child-like mind and innocence they often find themselves in trouble.
  • Falling Action
  • Curley, the boss's son instantly dislikes Lennie and picks on him. Curley's wife creates problems by flirting with Lennie and George. The boys make friends with the ranch hands especially Candy.
  • Resolution
  • Lennie is given a puppy by Slim and is playing with it in the bar. Curley's wife go into the barn and starts to talk to Lennie. Without realizing it Lennie grabs her hair (because he likes soft things). When she gets nervous she gets nervous and tells him to stop he gets nervous and breaks her neck.
  • Lennie was given special instruction by George that if anything bad happened he should hide in the brush near the river and George will meet him there.
  • George shoots Lennie before Curley can find him. The reader feels sorrow for George having to kill his best friend.
