Parent is used as a secure base
Infant plays while the parent sits
A stranger enters and talks to the parent
Parent leaves the room while the infant plays. The stranger offers comfort when necessary.
Parent returns and offers comfort while the stranger leaves.
This was a study conducted by Mary Ainsworth. When gathering her findings, she decided on three attachment types; 1. Secure Attachment 2. Insecure - Avoidant 3. Insecure - Resistant
