  • Flavius criticizes supporters of Caesar
  • Hence! Home you idle creatures get you home.
  • Murellus speaks to the cobbler
  • But what trade art thou? Answer me directly.
  • The cobbler responds
  • What mean’st thou by that? “Mend” me, thou saucy fellow?
  • Nay,I beseech you,sir,be not out with me.Yet, if you be out,sir,I can mend you.
  • Flavius criticizes two townspeople for supporting Caesar because they once supported Pompey who was killed by Caesar.
  • Flavius and Murellus say the townspeople shouldn't be celebrating
  • But wherefore art not in thy shop today?Why dost thou lead these men about the streets?
  • Murellus asks the cobbler again what his trade is.
  • Flavius and murellus see celebration as ingratitude
  • Pray to the gods to intermit the plague That needs must light on this ingratitude.
  • The cobbler explains his trade by telling Murellus he is a mender of worn soles and saying he can mend murellus.
  • Flavius doesn't want statues decorated in honor of Caesar
  • Disrobe the images If you do find them decked with ceremonies.
  • Flavius and Murellus don't feel that Caesar should be celebrated because he killed Pompey who they once showed support for.
  • Wherefore rejoice? What conquest brings he home?
  • Flavius and Murellus see the celebration as ungrateful because of what Pompey contributed to Rome
  • Go, go, good countrymen, and for this fault,
  • Flavius tells Murellus to undress any of the statues that are decorated in honor of Caesar.
  • May we do so? You know it is the feast of Lupercal.
