Calypso's vessel that she made for Ulysses was destroyed by Poseidon, but Ulysses was saved by the Nereid named Ino, who had been angered by Poseidon. Ulysses made it to the land of Phaeacia and was "greeted" by Nausicaa, daughter of King Alcinous and Queen Arete, when he was found naked in a clump of reeds. Nausicaa fell in love with Ulysses, as she was being courted and denying every man, this was a surprise, but she was denied and became the first woman bard when Ulysses was sent home.
When Ulysses returns to Ithaca, he hides the treasure given to him by Alcinous and his battle gear to make himself look like a beggar. He then goes to Eumaeus', an old friend and swineherd, house and isn't recognized by the swineherd. Ulysses' son, Telemachus, arrives and then Ulysses reveals himself. Ulysses tells them of his plan to overthrow the suitors and they agree. Ulysses swears them to secrecy, they can't even tell Penelope, Ulysses wife. Ulysses plan works and he lives, from what we can tell from the story, lives a long, happy life.
