Storyboard Text

  • What? I can't hear you over my growling stomach.
  • Communities
  • Back in Paleolithic times, groups of 20 to 60 people wandered around from place to place, looking for food and a place to stay.
  • So hungry. Do you see any food?
  • Haha! I've got all the food I need!
  • Back in Neolithic times, people began to grow crops and live in permanent shelters. Since they were able to settle in one place, they could form larger communities, like towns and villages.
  • I sure am! And we're all going to the village over the river to trade our wheat for some tools.
  • Take me!
  • Are you going to the town meeting?
  • Gather the troops! We're being attacked! Someone get me a weapon!
  • These changes are important because living in communities allowed people to work together more efficiently to defend themselves, make tools, and to raise and grow food. They also had more time to focus on leisurely things, like establishing families.
  • Great job making this! What do you think of mine?
  • Here! Use the one I made!
  • See ya!
