  • "Nip it in the bud".  "Prevention is the best medicine" Watch, Listen, and always think before reacting. Check yourself make sure that you are not coming to school with a bad attitude .

  • When? What? How?:    Strategies for prevention and escalating.
  • WHEN?  All the Time!!! Withitness-Identifying and dealing with problems, keeping them from becoming issues. 1. Be present;  greet students as they enter the room. Watch for possible aggressive behavior or attitude. 2. Keep eye contact with the students, walk to stand by the problem area, and give small body language hints, (shake of the head, etc..) 3. Listen, you can tell by a persons emotions by the tone and volume of their voice.

  • 1. Listen actively 2. Relax before responding, (take a breath) 3. Keep responses calm, and brief. 4. Ask open-ended questions 5. Recognize and acknowledge the student's emotions. 6. Try to stay positive and try to be positive.
