Hey Dad, did you that without language, our lives would be completely different?
Yes! Do you know that language is split into two different parts?
The two different parts of language are phonemes and morphemes. Phonemes are the smallest unit or sound and morphemes are the smallest unit of meaningful sounds.
Oh yeah! An example of phonemes are 'th' and 'ph'. An example of a morpheme is 'the' or 'boy'.
Remember when we watch the documentary about Genie? And how being isolated affected her ability to learn language?
Genie's story showed that although Genie never learned how to speak words, she could somewhat communicate and she was able to eventually learn how to speak.
