Austria was a multinational empire that included Germans, Czech, Magyars, Slovaks, Romanians, Slovenes, Poles, Croats, Serbs, Ukrainians, and Italians.
Germans made up only 25% of Austria's population. This group of Germans was the Hapsburg Dynasty.
Revolutions started in Austria and its capital Vienna was taken over.
To please the protesters, the government gave Hungary its own legislature.
We will give you guys your own legislature!!
However, in June 1848, the Austrian government had crushed the Czech rebels. By October, the rebels were defeated.
