  • In 1968 Trudeau became prime minister.
  • Mixed results
  • I love learning French.
  • Well, I dislike French.
  • Trudeau wanted to bring English and French Canadians together. So in 1969 Trudeau made Canada a bilingual country.
  • "Special statues"
  • I still want special status in the confederation.
  • From there on all public signs or places had to be in both languages. 
  • The end
  • some enjoyed the idea of having a bilingual country and some did not like it and felt French was being forced on them.
  • Many French speaking Canadians were not impressed and still wanted special status in Quebec's Confederation. Trudeau did not like that idea.
