  • On August 21st, 1831 Nat Turner and a group of men began their rebellion against slavery. They murdered Mr.Travers, his wife, and children.
  • Kill them!
  • After Turner hid out in the woods he was found shortly after and on October 31st of 1831 he was hung and skinned.
  • He doesn't deserve this!
  • After all that was over and done with Congress passed the new slave codes.
  • New Slave Codes
  • The New Slave codes provided made it illegal for slaves to preach, to be “insolent” to white people, to carry a gun, to hunt in the woods, to cohabitate with a free black or white person, to own any type of livestock
  • Yall can't go North
  • This isn't right we can't do nothing.
  • WHAT!
  • These slave codes made it where blacks had to stay in the South, they couldn't go North.
  • Why did they make theses new laws.
  • I hate these new slave codes.
  • This started the Civil War because Southerners and Northerners were angry with the new slave codes.
