One example of character from the text is Before The Party, it's embarassing not to have a jewel or gem, nothing to wear on my dress. I'll look like a pauper. I'd rather not go to the party. pg 200. During The Party, she was the prettiest one there, fashionable, gracious, smiling, and wild with joy. All the men turned to look at her, asked who she was, begged to be introduced. After The Party, she smiled with proud and simple joy. Mme. forestier, quite overcome, clapsed her by the hands. " Oh, my poor Mathilde. But mine was only fake. Why, at most it was worth only five hundred francs." Therefore, find beauty in your self, instead of in objects.
