During our first week at MiddletonMurray, we created our CV's and Cover Letters. To help us with this we looked at example CV's and what makes a good CV. We also looked into our niches and the methods available to us in applying for jobs, how to conduct ourselves when contacting companies and potential employers.
In the second week we delved into what makes a person successful. We learnt interview techniques and how to improve our communication, this helped to improve our confidence and better our knowledge of an interviewing scenario. After learning some basic interview skills, we then had a one to one mock interview with out tutor, Tracy.
In the third week we furthered our interview skills, and participated in a group interview with our colleagues. Each student presented their own Micro-teach lesson. Social media was also a hot topic in the 3rd week, we covered the positives and benefits of social media, and how to remain safe on networking sites.
During the fourth week we furthered our knowledge of equality and diversity within the workplace. We also learnt about the Data Protection act, and how to handle sensitive information, and our rights to information. Safety in the workplace was also included in the curriculum; ranging from fire safety, extremism prevention, office safety etc. We also learnt basics in customer service.
The fourth week was dedicated to money management and budgeting. We added a vast amount of words to our vocabulary that are related to finance. We learnt how to better choose a bank account, and how to manage our own finances.
Overall, it's been an interesting journey with MiddletonMurray so far. We have all noticeably improved over the period of the course and have learnt a lot. I feel that we are all much more prepared for work.
